My trouble with touch screens is that they always seem to whatever is next to what I select and when I try to touch those tiny x’s to close a screen, everything closes; basically they never want to do what I want So I’d only use them in an emergency if there’s no other choice
That’s easy, just turn your phone off My kids despair of me
So I take it you’re all set then. Boy! That was a fast job!
The first by our daughter or the first by our son?
Hey @cageycat! See what Em did here? No “20-character minimum,” just 4 emojis! Looks like she’s figured out a way to get around the minimum we get plagued with.
emojis have characters behind the picture.
And, the forum is nagging that I already replied to you THREE times, Jim.
Would someone else post so I quit getting in “trouble”? @kateg @Helen @Doug4 @Newtonian (Boy haven’t seen Newt in a lonnnng time!) Anyone else? save me from the computerized Forum Fanatic
I sometimes get that nag message when I post several photos. It usually tells me that I “… may not have allowed enough time for others to respond to your (my) posts.”
@AKE235 (Bob) was on right up until almost an hour ago. Maybe he is still with us?
Did you see his post regarding sending weather updates via email? He said they were expecting a hurricane and wanted to be able to maintain contact with the forum should he be unable to connect directly. His post was in the “Campaign” something or other topic (just recently begun). I gave him a reply link to a weather reporting message I got sent to me by email from the forum. It was dated July 26 of this year so it won’t be too far up the list of posts. Maybe that will suffice.
EDIT: Oops! It was in the topic about Forum Badges. I just got a heart on my last post there regarding above.
Shhhh… I can’t reply to you. LOL
Yes, you told him right. Except, you can reply via any Tomnod email. So pick the topic you want, then hit Reply To on the email.
@AKE235 I thought the Big H was coming up the east coast? Or-- did I mis-see the correct coast?
I just saw that it’s supposed to hit Texas as a category 6.
This from the BING search engine (from Time.com link):
Texas Prepares as ‘Life-Threatening’ Harvey Intensifies Into Hurricane
Time · 40 minutes ago (0100 EST)
(HOUSTON) — Harvey intensified into a hurricane Thursday and steered for the Texas coast with the potential for up to 3 feet of rain, 125 mph winds and 12-foot storm …
– Here’s a link to NOAA’s satellite image page for Hurricane Harvey. (As of 0100 ET it had already reached sustained winds of 105 mph/169 kmph.)
Stay safe Bob (@AKE235)
Thought I would answer your plea… besides which I firmly believe that ’ a picture is worth a thousand words’ or in this case a bunch or characters… right?
Actually no Jim I’m no where near done yet; just stripping all that paint off has taken a couple of days. Polyfilling, sizing the walls, and sanding the woodwork at the moment…well, I would be if I wasn’t on here The plan is to get all the painting done this coming bank holiday weekend and then carpet/furnishings next week. Hopefully big son should be back in his own room before he starts back in school in just under 2 weeks (past all his exams with flying colours and going into Sixth Form now )
He’s off out tonight for a “book burning” party with some of class mates Don’t know whether I should be on hand with a bucket of water or notify the firebrigade…there’s gonna be an awful lot of books
Sorry @cageycat and all, been a bit quiet recently recovering from last week’s operation. Just about got back to being able to sit and use a computer for long enough to type a post!
(You probably won’t be able to shut me up for the next few weeks… )
Yes, definitely please stay safe Bob! (and anyone else in the path of Harvey…)
Oh Helen, so sorry to here your laid up like that, I hope you have a speedy recovery and send you a hug
And that’s ok, you chat away, anything to maintain your sanity…but we’ll do our best to break it
Thanks Em! Probably one of the WORST things I can do right now is laugh too much…! Or sneeze or cough… Wouldn’t want to undo all of my surgeon’s good work! Love the kitty pics though, keep them coming!
Ok, I’d better keep it tonned down, don’t want to be bursting those stitches…just give me a minute
No stitches, just superglue! (Apparently makes for a better-looking scar, if there is such a thing!) At the moment it feels like he used a few of these though… or these !
Oooh sounds painful Helen.
I use superglue a lot on minor cuts and scrapes, especially good for paper/knife cuts on fingers…I hate having to use plasters/band aids
